The legal details are added here before launch
The legal entity that operates VerifiedGig, its registered address, the data protection contact and the supervisory authority for each market we recruit in are published on this page once they are confirmed.
Who we are
VerifiedGig recruits people who want to work as mystery shoppers and local micro-delivery agents. This policy explains what we do with the information you give us when you apply.
For the purposes of data protection law, VerifiedGig is the controller of the application information described on this page. Our full legal name, registered address and data protection contact are shown in the notice at the top of this page once they are confirmed.
Information we collect
We collect only the information you type into the application form on the Apply page:
- Your full name, email address and phone number, so a recruiter can contact you.
- Your city, state or region, postal code and country, so we can consider you for work in your area.
- Your answers to the eligibility questions: whether you are 18 or older, whether you have a smartphone with a working camera, whether you have reliable transportation, which type of work you prefer, your availability, and whether you have previous mystery shopping experience.
- A record of your consent, the time you submitted the application, and an irreversible one-way hash of the network address the application came from.
We never store the raw IP address of an applicant. We also receive standard technical information when your browser requests a page, such as the page requested and the time of the request. We use it to keep the site running and to prevent abuse, and we do not use it to build a profile of you.
What we do not collect
The application form deliberately asks for very little. We do not ask for, and do not want, any of the following during the initial application:
- Your date of birth, social security number, national identification number or tax identifiers.
- Passport, driving licence or other identity documents, or photographs of them.
- Bank account, card or payment details.
- Your full home address.
- A recording of your voice or a video of you.
If you send us any of these anyway, we will delete them. If we ever need identity or payment information later in the recruitment process, we will ask for it separately, explain why, and tell you how it will be handled.
Why we use it, and our lawful bases
We use application information to assess whether you are a suitable candidate, to contact you about screening, onboarding and next steps, and to keep a record of the decisions we make.
Where data protection law requires a lawful basis, we rely on our legitimate interests in recruiting for the opportunities we support, on taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, and on your consent where we ask for it explicitly.
We also use limited technical information to keep the site secure, prevent spam and fraudulent submissions, and meet our legal obligations.
We do not use application information to build advertising profiles, to add you to a marketing mailing list, or to share your details with third parties for their own marketing.
Who can access your application
Your application is stored in a database that only authorised VerifiedGig staff can reach. The public website cannot list or retrieve applications, and there is no public endpoint that returns them.
Access is limited to the people who need it to do their job:
- Recruitment staff, who can read your application, update its status, add internal notes and record that you have been contacted.
- The VerifiedGig engineering and operations team, who maintain the systems but do not use applicant information for any other purpose.
- Our service providers, who host the database, deliver transactional email and — if the operator enables it — forward new-application notifications to a private Telegram chat. They act only on our instructions and under contract.
We do not sell your information, and we do not disclose it to employers, clients or other third parties for their own purposes.
International transfers
Our service providers may process information in countries other than the one you live in. Where that happens, we use appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses or an equivalent mechanism, and we keep the amount of information transferred to what is needed.
How long we keep it
We keep applications only for as long as they are useful for recruitment and as long as the law allows. Our retention schedule sets out how long each category is kept and what triggers deletion.
- Applications that are being considered, and applications from people we are actively in contact with, are kept while the recruitment process is live.
- Applications that are not selected are deleted or anonymised once the recruitment cycle they were submitted for has closed.
- Internal notes are deleted along with the application they belong to.
- Where we keep an outcome record after deletion, we remove your name and contact details and keep only what we need to answer questions about a previous application.
You can ask us for a copy of the retention schedule at any time using the contact details below.
How we protect it
We protect application information with the following controls:
- Row Level Security on the database. The public has no access at all, and a signed-in account can only read applications if its email address is on our staff list.
- Encrypted transport (HTTPS) for every request, and encryption at rest at our database provider.
- Server-side validation of every submission, plus rate limiting and bot protection.
- A minimum-privilege model: recruitment staff only see the information they need to review and contact an applicant.
- No sensitive identifiers collected in the first place, and no raw IP addresses stored.
No system is perfect. If we discover a breach that affects your information, we will notify you and the relevant authority in line with our legal obligations.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Ask what information we hold about you and request a copy.
- Ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
- Ask us to delete your information.
- Object to, or restrict, certain processing of your information.
- Withdraw your consent, where we rely on it.
- Ask for your information in a portable, machine-readable format.
- Complain to your local data protection authority.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the address below. We will verify your request before we act on it, and exercising a right will not count against your application. If you withdraw your consent, we will stop contacting you about opportunities and delete or anonymise your application unless we are legally required to keep it.
Children
The opportunities we recruit for are open to people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has sent us an application, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service or the law changes. When we do, we will change the date at the top of the page. If a change materially affects how we use your information, we will take reasonable steps to tell you before it takes effect.
